UUUU #4: Future Wars

Future WarsDeeper, deeper, close to the darkest corners of the games that weren't and the demos that didn't, here's again UUUU: Unearthed/Unseen/Unfinished/Unreleased, back for the fourth time, to show you what nobody did wanted to show you before!

Silence has been a fantastic trackmo, the offspring of a lucky cooperation between one of the most memorable coders on Plus/4 (Steve from the Scorpions team) and the beloved graphician which used to often occupy the higher ranks in all the mags' top lists (Unreal of the Methabolix crew). Actually, somebody did notice this fantastic duo at work, and decided to invest in the next production of this brand new coop team: Nukeman did ask about a graphic adventure game in order to exploit at max the skills of both, in order to distribute the resulting game in Germany eventually as shareware software.

They did accept the deal, and Future Wars was fully designed on paper, consisting in five big bitmap environments where to move and do precise tasks, as seen in the Amiga's homonym game. This demo allows the player to move into the very first of those pictures, and we can have a taste of Steve's code watching how the main character moves in respect of the sprite's priorities in the surroundings.

Another slice of history has been saved and spreaded, download Future Wars and see how cool is the vapourware that didn't become a real great game!

Howl To A Fullmoon Of Conversions: Knight Lore Plus/4!

Knight LoreFirst rule: respect the ancient lores. Respect'em along the years, and do anything in your powers to never let the scene forgetting about.
And which is the firmest tradition for any Plus/4 owner? Yes, the first one you've imagined: converting a game from another system! Did you think the old trend would expire by time? Absolutely not, just the opposite: the game porting has increased in quality. It's the year 2019, and Knight Lore candidates itself as the maximum expression into ye olde art of converting games to Plus/4!

Knight Lore directly comes to us from the ZX Spectrum tradition of Ultimate-styled isometric arcade adventure games, and is a fundamental chapter in the "Sabreman" series, the one which also includes Sabre Wulf and Pentagram. You are Sabreman, now cursed to constantly turn into a werewolf when the moon appears in the black sky, and you have forty days to collect objects throughout the Melkhior castle in order to brew a definitive cure. But any castle room has blocks to climb, obstacles to avoid, and puzzles to solve. Sabreman jumps higher when in werewolf form, but several enemies will attack you during his damned state.

Knight LoreBehind the precious work of porting, there's Emu again, showing his coding skills at his best: Knight Lore is supported by full documentation and instructions, supports both PAL and NTSC machines, offers the music composed by Saul Cross both via SIDcard and TED sound (additional code by TLC of course!), shows a fantastic title picture drawn by a real supporting pillar of the Commodore, STE'86. Most of all, Emu fullfilled the game with all the possible customizations a player can wish for, and those settings can also be saved on disk in order to keep'em even during further explorations of the castle.

Play Knight Lore, as it is a milestone in the home computers' videoludic history, coveted by 6502 based machines' users since the heydays, and now playable reality on Commodore Plus/4! It's 35 years only after its release, and Sabreman is still searching for a cure, we hope that its 264 reincarnation would be the lucky one to save Sabreman's human nature.

Tenebra Macabre! Winter's Not Yet Over

Tenebra MacabreYes, we're far from Halloween, but the light of the rising sun is yet to come, high and bright to save the day. Hence, what Mega Meghan still needs, is: candles to be lighted on.

Hokuto Force boldly push its entry for the RGCD C64 16KB Cartridge Game Development Competition 2019 with this arcade adventure platformer originally part of the huge ZX Spectrum catalogue of The Mojon Twins to hit on Commodore machines. C64 is the target, but why don't show much more love for the Plus/4 (and the VIC20) too? For this, we hail to the French pride from Montpellier, Majikeyric, one of the fresh entries and the best surprises in the most recent times, the guy who's just rocketed the game development division of Hokuto Force "Digital Monastery" to the multiformat bigger scene.
It's once again na_th_an the hand behind the scary little hires graphics along all the game, and he's the brain behind the game concept. This time, there's a new entry for the musical score (SIDcard or TLC's frequency converter by autodetection): he's Mibri, and he did a great job here.

Tenebra MacabreFind the path to sneak out of the dark crypt by lighting on the candles in the room, the outer storm is by your side, enlightening even the darkest rooms for an instant to have a glance of where to trample safely. Go Meghan, find the exit to the full sunlight, away from the Tenebra Macabre!
