| The BDB Project Takes Off | | Posted by Luca on 2025-10-19 |
This is something which has started weeks ago, and we silently added software and additional materials into our archive, but we're announcing it only today, when the project pushes out three new adventure games, taking off definitely.
Briefly, Gianluca Girelli and Garry Francis, with the help from other passionate fellows, started The BDB Project, whose purpose is to renew, fix, translate and port on different systems, the whole softography of Bonaventura Di Bello, a prolific Italian writer of adventure games which have been distributed by the newsstands. Stealing an excerpt of their manifesto, they aim to: "...not only to translate the games to English, but bring them up-to-date for a modern audience. This means removing most of the sudden death, guess-the-verb, tight inventory limits, mazes, unwinnable situations and moon logic that was prevalent in the games of the 1980s, and introducing a friendlier parser with multi-word input, extended vocabulary, richer descriptions and more responses. In some cases, there are enhancements to the puzzles and/or extra puzzles...".
Today they have released Caribbean Treasure, The Wrath of Anubis and Unknown Dimension. These games are going to add up to the Kenneth Johnson's trilogy: Wild West, Tin Star and Desperados. More of this is yet to come in the near future. If you're a classic adventureer, stay tuned.
Bonus addition: previously, Bakemono no Sekai - World of Monsters and Tempus Fugit have been added too. |
