The Librarian 2!
Posted by Csabo on 2025-07-31
The Librarian 2 screenshotClosing out this month, RoePipi is back with an unexpected but most welcome surprise: The Librarian 2! It's a sequel to 2020's popular The Librarian.

She's back; our experienced librarian is still fulfilling the requests of visiting readers by retrieving topic-appropriate books from the shelves. Supporting this work is a lightning-fast computer that offers three tips for each question, pointing to the most likely subject area. There's also a small booklet (a condensed version of the Universal Decimal Classification) listing all major topics in English, in neat order.

The librarian has a sharp eye for the job: the program flashes the solution that seems correct. Then it's just a matter of hurrying over to the shelves to fetch a book on the requested topic - which, if all goes well, the reader gratefully accepts and rushes off. Next, please!

If you enjoy detailed PETSCII graphics and unique gameplay, The Librarian 2 is for you!

The Great Demo and Dragon Wars!
Posted by Csabo on 2025-07-22
Dragon Wars screenshotCsory is back, to at least archive his old disks. Today we present two pieces of software that have been recovered. The first is Great Demo by ICE-Team, a rare release from 1990 of which no mentions have been found in contemporary magazines or catalogues.

And then we have Dragon Wars, yes indeed, putting and end to over 30 years of rumours; the game exists and is playable. Be sure to check it out!

"Carrot Stew", Who's Back? You!
Posted by Luca on 2025-07-21
Carrot Stew"They're coming outta the history walls!". This is a summer of notable comebacks, and this applies to different scenes and eras.
Who's next? This is the time of Frank Bingley, artist, painter... And a very well known signatory of several type-in games, which have been published as BASIC lists on the English magazine Commodore User. His production can be located between the summer of 1986 and that of 1987, and it seems that it actually is the summer, the key to reading the activity of this historical developer!

Hence, following the habits of Frank Bingley, here comes a new game from him, on another summer. But in the year 2025! In Carrot Stew, you must guide a little rabbit around a field collecting carrots for a hot-pot whilst avoiding an angry farmer waving his stick, who has set guns and hidden snares to catch you! It helps to remember where the snares are, though the farmer resets them occasionally.

A little game written in BASIC, a cool surprise from the past. Come to see how deep is the hole of the White Rabbit, give it a try. Oh, and welcome back, Frank.

Mini Rulett screenshotIn 2021, we found some very rare releases by Puhasoft and managed to contact them as well. Part of the information we received from them was the other releases that existed, and now another has been found: Mini Rulett. I can't stress enough how rare this commercial release is! Huge thanks to Lacus for archiving it for us.

Frog Jump Cover!
Posted by Csabo on 2025-07-05
Frog Jump CoverWhile browsing Plus/4 related YouTube videos (as one does), I came across a video featuring a datasette repair and testing some games. As I watched, an unfamiliar cassette was shown... After a quick check, I found that it's for an Italian bootleg called Frog Jump, and we don't have a cover for it!

I emailed the creator (The Lost C) and he kindly scanned it for us :-) Be sure to check out his channel for some retro content, and always keep your eyes peeled for Plus/4 related stuff!
