HVTC Update: Solstice Edition
Posted by Luca on 2021-06-21
Happy Solstice 2021! Let's celebrate the incoming summer with a fresh update for High Voltage TED Collection, also known as HVTC, the one that rockets it up to 771 files overall!

There are two important changes regarding the structure of the collection: as first, the hvtc/player double splitting, which was initially thought to ensure a clean code for users, beside the player's added tunes, has gone forever, leaving the one and only /hvtc folder, containing an organized substructure of self-playing .prg files; secondly, we dissolved the few groups in the folders by finally assigning all the relative tunes, and this means that now "/musicians/" folder's subdirs contain no others than the direct composers' folders for real.

10 months represent a long period of time, especially crossing one of the most prolific year for our scene, hence there are many new tunes, e.g. from the unstoppably growing's folder of Csabo with its 84 and counting, or from some unexpected outsiders like Hedgewizard, or Hoffman/LGC who has finally shown to us how to push on some TEDzakker's features, or Spektro's delicious demos testing his selfcoded work-in-progress player...and Ulysses777's "Dizzy" tunes, and BKP's...check all this out! Several important fixes follow too: some digis which were outside HVTC's boundaries have been removed, some names and files have been fixed, and, after years, we finally fixed the initialization of those nasty selfmodifying Aardvark/Leaper/Zagan Warrior intro tunes :)

Don't forget to completely delete the whole previous collection (that's the way to do at any new update!), then download/unzip the new one!
And now follows a direct link to the ZIP file.

Stop The Express!
Posted by Csabo on 2021-06-18
Stop The ExpressWe have a new game for you today called Stop The Express! The game is somewhat similar to Loco-Coco, but the name itself is a dead giveaway: your task is... to stop the express :-) You must make your way to the front of the train and reach the engine. You can pick up snake birds, and chuck them at the train gang. Watch the demo gameplay to see all the tactics you can use.

The game exists on C64 and ZX Spectrum as well, but the +4 version has some new additions: completely re-balanced levels, additional train designs, a new title screen (thanks to Chronos!) and title music. Enjoy!

Silk Dust: Emilia Vittorini's 3rd
Posted by Luca on 2021-06-07
Silk DustAfter a long period of beta testing, the third chapter of the Emilia Vittorini saga arrives: Silk Dust. The game comes out freeware on eighteen different machines, with some exotics including Cambridge Z88 and Olivetti M20.

In this new Emilia's adventure set in what in Italy is defined as "Giolitti era", Princess Lucilla Briccorosso is preparing for the Silk Road Race, a 10,000 km rally raid between Cairo in Egypt and Peking in China, to be done by car. And that car comes from Emilia's father's ITA workshops, so its perfect functionality, and therefore the Princess's safety, will depend on you all the way.
The game is divided in four parts. When you complete one of them, you will get a code that allows to immediately jump to the beginning of the next part, though in the Plus/4 version the three files that make up the entire game can be uploaded individually.

With Silk Dust, once again Davide Bucci will catapult you into a time where strong women and early technology will be a winning combination, in a pioneering scenario. 3, 2, 1, it's just time to run. To Peking!
