  Hi Crisp!
This sounds really convincing! If your card is ready some time, i should like to have one!

  Hello ...
I am just developing a SWINSID Card for the Commodore PLUS 4 and C16 Computers,
so you can just use the well known SID Sounds in these Computers and didn't have to
buy a pricy SID Chips, the AVR used in this Project is around 2 Euro the Address decoding
is done in standard TTL Logik with two simple Chips and the rest is a 16 BIT Stereo DAC
and an 24MHz Oscillator all Parts together are around 10 Euros plus the PCB
So I ordered the Parts and I am going to build an Prototype, I will post the results soon here too...
normally I am on the German forum called www.forum-64.de which also has a sub forum for
  Commodore Plus 4 + C 16 Computers.
  So stay tuned...

Its good to have a replacement. I don't have any clue about all this, i just wonder if it wouldn't be easier to have a FPGA-based SID-replacement (like in the DTV). Or am i talking complete bullshit here?

I think there was once a discussion about a SID-card which uses software emulation (via an Atmel ucontroller). That would be this guy here I guess. Wavetable or not, it could be reprogrammed at any time by anyone to improve it.

Most of all, I didn't read about a statement of extend this project in the Plus/4 direction...

But this seems to be a wavetable-synthesizer. I wonder if this sounds alright...
