 TED series video promo

OK, now this is quite interesting. And a total scam, compared to the actually released product.

 Re: TED series video promo

The Magic Voice cart could be used on the plus4. with an adapter cartridge, which needs to be designed and built. Plugs into the Plus/4 and has a C64 cart connector on the other end, where the C64 Magic Voice cart can be plugged.
Essentially what it would need to do, is map and address translate the voice chip address accesses from the Plus4 address to the C64 address. Also include ROM space on it, so that the 364 speech ROM can be put on it. The C64 ROM on the cartridge would be simply ignored. Should be easy to do.

 Re: TED series video promo

Nice find! Actually, most of the things they told was true. So it is far from a real scam.

Magic Desk was planned, but cancelled.

Most of the mentioned SWs exists, except maybe the Wizard of Wor. As the 364 dropped, without speech the Wizard of Wor would hardly keep up with the C64 version, as they did not have TCFS or a programmer with similar capabilities happy

This ad shows exactly how Commodore tried to position this platform as a cheap business machine.

Funny that none of the presented games were running on the actual machine. happy
And that Mickey Mouse-like gloves, lovely!

@MMS Actually there was a finishing date planned for Gorf and Wizzard of War. But i think they dropped it becauss of the lack of hardware compatibility. I also found sources which Software were planned.

I am not sure, if it was already here beforehand, if yes, sorry for doubleposting.

At the link below there is a downloadable video interview with Bil Herd and Dave Haynie, from 7:00 the 264 series starts:

 Re: TED series video promo

@George allow me to remind that @BilHerd talked on several occasions about the Wizard Of Wor version which had been used as a test either for the prototype boards and for the dedicated joystick. Something existsted then, but he doesn't remember if it was a proper porting of the game, or a C64 or MAX version running on an early board in the times when the TED itself was far to come yet.

Surely, it's not the one with the sprites as seen on the promo video, a video – I wanna confirm this – full of fake stuff, which is something offending in a commercial stuff.

 Re: TED series video promo

@Luca very interesting indeed.

Seems that they had a kind of prototype, because Gorf and WOW are listed for the show for the Winter CES 1984.

Here are also the planned release-Dates (1985-03-31), but they didn't have a completion status at the time.
