 TEDzakker 1.0 Released!

TEDzakkerIf Knaecketraecker doesn't fill the void of not-having-a-music-editor for you, here comes TEDzakker! Developed by Hermit (C64 coder/musician), it's a C64/Plus4/C16 TED tracker. (The C64 version emulates the TED on the SID.) It has a massive list of features and if you listen to the included example tune, you will hear that it is capable of producing some very interesting sounds.

Two modern, feature complete music trackers, one for the PC, one for the 8 bit machines - there is now no excuse for anyone who wants to write TED tunes :-)

SidWizard is by far my favourite sid-tracker.
Exploring this will be great.
Fantastic work.

 Re: TEDzakker 1.0 Released!

I'm still in the read-that-damn-instructions-file phase, but I feel like I'm ready to at least attempt to find the right words for this awesome surprise!
Hermit put into it all his several-years-long expereince about how trackers have to be, and the result is exactly the same of what, for example, Degauss asked since long time. And we're talking about Degauss, who just release a fantastic tracker which runs on PC, but, by his words, mostly dedicated to all the Bauknecht stuff, with fixed needings about raster, memory, optimization and so on.

TEDzakker is completely customizable by compiling exclusively the features you would need, and it comes in 6 different modules, from 'bare' to 'extra', and 3 expressly to fit into a C16, and an incredible C64 emulation which will extend its own power of diffusion among users by magnitude orders! It allows linkable subtunes, MIDI entering, multispeed for single instruments, rastertime usage reduction, slide/vibrato/sync/legato/autoportamento/crispstart and programmable temo table; it introduces some never seem before features like pseudo-ADSR, "gentle" vibrato crossing, vibrato balancing for lower frequencies, mixing volumes control, noiseloop/phase/sync/ring, fadeout support.
It shows exactly what's happening in that moment, and playbacks marked slices of patterns and tracks.

TEDzakker sincerely goes beyond anything we could even imagine, and we should really be grateful with Hermit for this extraordinary release. And now, everybody to munch and assimilate the manual, then hands on the new toy! I assembled a D64 with all the 264 dedicated modules, including demosongs and instruments, so no excuses! wink

And right on the heels of the release of TEDzakker, we have the first tune released: http://csdb.dk/release/?id=141697

 Re: TEDzakker 1.0 Released!

A little first tune, which takes a significative short circuit into CSDb: does a hybrid release like that stay in a C64 database? Oh well, I only have to joyfully include the tune into the forthcoming HVTC update, and cook some popcorn to enjoy the creepshow of conflicting comments .

 Re: TEDzakker 1.0 Released!

It's not a bad tune.

There's an actual C64 executable, so I don't see why CSDb would have an issue with it. If nobody makes a big deal out of it, then it's no big deal. So far only Luca's comments (on both forums) are the only ones that point to any kind of conflict.

 Re: TEDzakker 1.0 Released!

Even on CSDb nobody has overreacted to my words since today, sign of the fact that my comments have been interpreted in the right way: half interested in what looks like an eccentric novelty, half easy talking for fun.

EDIT: back to the topic, I'm realizing that I've just used most of the non-standard waveforms featured in TEDzakker, listen to Adventures In Time (just in the middle of the ingame music) and Majesty Of Sprites (levels 4-1 and 4-2).

EDIT 2: some months passed and I haven't got a chance to compose on TEDzakker yet :( Once I've read the manual, I was ready to use it for a first run, but in the same time I had to start composing in Knaecketraecker's format. So TEDzakker has been temporarily put aside, hoping to give it a try as soon as possible.
At the moment, seems that Shorteddy has been the one and only tune composed in TEDzakker from someone else than the author. Did anybody try some steps on it?

Groovy! I've uploaded it but I forgot to upload the source too, I'll fix it in few hours, once at home.
I still can't find time for put my hands on the TEDzakker due to other things to do on Plu/4, but I know the time to test it is even more closer to me wink
