 The popular Plus/4 emulator YAPE...

The popular Plus/4 emulator YAPE has been updated to version 1.0.7. Head over to the homepage to find out what's new and download the latest.

Re: The popular Plus/4 emulator YAPE...

I've just tested new Yape-SDL under Linux. I am still using Debian 7.1 with SDL 1.2 so I had to install new SDL manually. I tried Yape with 2048 and Exorcist - it worked fine. However TED emulation is still poor - it can't run Bunny-2011 and other pictures converted by IstvanV's utility.

Yeah, the Linux version's TED emulation - though much improved - is still far behind Windows' one. The Linux/SDL version is mainly polished in terms of window management, video and sound for now. Porting the TED core over will be another major overhaul along with true drive emulation.

I have a wonderful modded hp t5540 terminal pc with a beautiful S3 Chrome9 (industrial junk class) HC IGP runnnig Win XP. This version produces strange behaviours, black vertical bar in the middle of the screen and two times the first half of the actual screen.. grin previous version was fine. just sayin..

On Mik's advice I downloaded Yape. Love it!

Sidney: that was good advice, you can't go wrong with YAPE happy It's popular for a reason. The other really good one (for Windows anyway, that's all I can comment about) is plus4emu - though the development on that stopped 7 years ago.

Spot on Csabo. I find it great for playtesting games that I will subsequently order on ebay!

Hey, I am just asking for a friend (and for me too of course, at work I just have a Mac). Is there a precompiled binary for the mac of the new SDL version?

Not that I know of happy Actually, Magervalp used to compile plus4emu binaries on the Mac many moons ago so perhaps we can ask him in the c64 IRC channel.

Sorry to warm up this old thread. Some of the recent HoF entries for Pac-Pac feature YAPE 1.1.0. Where did you get it guys? Does Gaia know about releasing a new version? grin

Perhaps there is an internal 1.1.0 for testing at several sceners. The regular citizens can download the 1.0.9 yet.

Yes, KiCHY is absolutely correct. I happen to have an early beta of the next version with some bugfixes and new features, mostly in the monitor. The release schedule is entirely in Gaia's hands though.

Re: The popular Plus/4 emulator YAPE...

I did not want open a new topic. The 64-bit version of YAPE 1.0.10 don't work with PRG files. If i'll open a PRG file with F7 (File -> Autostart image) and select a PRG file, YAPE crash. The 32-bit version works well!

Thanks for the bug report, I'll have to check now happy

EDIT: that's right, there was indeed a bug that caused a crash in the 64 bit build only (sigh) please redownload your copy if you have to, I replaced the binary

Gaia: Sorry if I'm insatiable (from Google translate happy). Do you plan to implement SD2IEC emulation (maybe with JiffyDOS) or it's already exist in some way?
Csabo: I can't add new entry into Crackers' Demo 5 topic there is only hourglass

Re: The popular Plus/4 emulator YAPE...

Unfortunately I'm not able to run Yape 1.0.10 on my XP SP3
The system outputs the message "Yape.exe is not a valid Win32 application". I've attempted to disable the firewall and to restart the system but without luck.
Any suggestion? Thank you.

Re: The popular Plus/4 emulator YAPE...

I think SVS is right, and there's nothing wrong with his Windows. Based on the results of dependency walker utility and a cursory internet search, the executable is probably targeted to Vista/7 instead of XP. Any idea Gaia? And opening a program with F7 still crashes the 64 bit build of the emulator (downloaded it less than 5 minutes ago).

Re: The popular Plus/4 emulator YAPE...

OK I admit I screwed it up in the big haste. I have accidentally overwritten the 32-bit executable with the fixed up 64-bit build. Now you're having two 64-bit builds, one working (yape.exe) and the old non-working (YapeWin64.exe) one but no 32-bit build at all. Just check the Help/About dialog. I'm away from my desktop for a while but will try posting a working 32-bit binary soon somewhere.

Epy, I PM'd you to ask for more info about the posting problem. Then someone else PM'd me and said the same thing, so I finally took a look. I assumed the forum code would be correct... But nope! For some reason it had trouble with that topic. As a quick fix, I changed it so that on the reply page, it only queries a maximum of 100 replies... (Should be enough.)

I have updated the 1.0.10 package with the working 32 bit binary. You can go ahead and redownload the zip package from the usual place.

Re: The popular Plus/4 emulator YAPE...

thx for the release.

I have a question to keymapping. I used WinVice to emulate und program games but on plus/4 port the 1541 won't work proberly. So, i switched to YAPE. Please, can you add an option with optional keymapping (ie. user can choose YAPE or VICE keymapping)?

Re: The popular Plus/4 emulator YAPE...

Idea: A feature like "Autowarp" would be nice. Eg. Terra Nova, which is a game with multiple parts on tape, could benefit, if Yape would switch automitacally into the warpmode during the loading from tape and switch back into normal mode when the loading is ready.

Re: The popular Plus/4 emulator YAPE...

Good idea Acrid,
BTW, hoping to not be boring happy I remind the requested option to let the running program to read the current emulator speed (a value on a unused memory cell).
This could allow to write programs able to self adjust some operations (like timing) and to know if they are running under an emulator or under the real machine.
Thank you.

Am I wrong, or the "save snapshot as..." window doesn't care about asking you if you're sure to overwrite a file with the same name or not?

you're right! And not only that, but most save functions are like that but perhaps it's a good idea to fix it.
