Re: Commodore 232 on EBAY !

Geez... one has been auctioned here at a local Commodore party for like 700 euros, at that time I thought it was way too much already. I'm curious as to what the price turns out to be. Also, it would be good to know the serial number of this unit (it something like AA5 000069??, the picture is very low quality). The highest I have seen for a 232 was AA5 000097.

Ridiculous...

Plus, that guy doesn't even give credit to the site where he copied the information. I'd sue him wink

Re: Commodore 232 on EBAY !

AA5 000007 according to the listing. It is supposed to be one of the known unit, from a known collector... I do wonder tough how did it end up in the hands of a comic book seller....

Re: Commodore 232 on EBAY !

I have overlooked the serial in the listing. Oh well... I can recall this machine (#7) from a couple of years back, indeed. I even have the photos of that auction somewhere.

Crown...

That second copied article is misleading. It's not the AA5 000007 that's for sale!

Re: Commodore 232 on EBAY !

It says "ARTICLE FROM A COMMODORE SITE NOT THIS ACTUAL MACHINE" and #7, according to the article, was/is boxed. This unit doesn't seem to be boxed.

There is a separate section after the artice which describes the actual unit being sold, right after the line you quote. The article is from Bo Zimmerman's site, it is actually credited properly in the listing with a link
http://www.zimmers.net/cbmpics/c232s.html

The unit being sold is attributed to be the one which was the property of Dan Benson, check details about that here:

Re: Commodore 232 on EBAY !

Ooops... I misunderstood that. Reading it again, I see how it's meant. Before, I thought the description after the line I quoted was meant by "article from a commodore site" as well... I guess due to the same font.

And yes, that article above is credited. Shame on me

Re: Commodore 232 on EBAY !

Well, I wasn't all wrong wink

The "description" after that quoted line is copied as well. It's not the seller's description. So I got it right the first time. But I have to admit... it is quite confusing. However, the "missing" box caught my attention again.

Just for clarification: The unit to be sold in this auction is #69 and the one that is described in the article still belongs to a well known collector happy

Re: Commodore 232 on EBAY !

There are a quite more known Commodore 232. Rüdiger have had one but unfortunately sold it. Maybe he can remember the serial no of the sold machine. I know a collector from Germany, who owns one and also a collector from the Netherlands. The collector from Netherlands told me that another 232 was gone for 350 Eur to another collector from the Netherlands. Just to remember £1.500,00 is about 2.200 Eur for an unboxed and also opened and upgraded machine. I think it's to expensive. All we know that at least 97 Commodore 232 were made, but does anybody know the correct quantity?

Re: Commodore 232 on EBAY !

Where do you get that the unit to be sold is opened and upgraded? BOTH texts are copied from websites and are not refering to #69.

Still, I think the price tag is ridiculous. However, I'm not a collector and I know that sometimes money doesn't really matter that much happy

Re: Commodore 232 on EBAY !

There has been an update which includes an interesting not about the actual machine:

"Note from Marten: I was given this machine back in 1984 by Commodore UK. We were developing games for the c16 and Plus 4 and at the time they did not have any C16's to give us so I was supplied with this machine the serial no. is AA5 000069"

Re: Commodore 232 on EBAY !

Chicken you are right! I read "this unit has been upgraded to 64K", but the correct text is "his unit has been upgraded to 64K" in context to the article. So it looks like the 232 with the serial no. 69 is not upgrated, but it is still unsure if the computer is working.

Re: Commodore 232 on EBAY !

Yeah, but that ad was quite confusing anyway. See how much misinterpretations it caused already wink

I'm not sure if a collector insists on a working machine... From what I read so far, most parts in the 232 are available from "other sources", so it's possible to repair that machine to make it run. But then it's not "original" anymore?!

I'm happy with my "regular" plus/4s happy And yes, I'd sell one for 2000 Euro, too wink
