Author's Comments
This game is working, and should be possible to play through to the end. There were things that I planned to do, but have not done:
- 1541 support (it's 1551 only)
- Add 256K support
- Enemy animation are partially disabled (this was very trick because the C64 version used sprites)
- Adding my name to the conversion.

One more thing to note; contrary to the rumour in Scene News 06, Nukeman did not sell this game since it was never "completed".

Instructions
                             DRAGON WARS
Reference Card: Commodore 64/128
BEFORE YOU BEGIN

You must play with a backup of Side 1 -- not your original disk -- and
we recommend you play only with backups of all disk sides. Back up all
sides of Dragon Wars onto blank disks with any copy program, or use
the backup program in the "Utilities" section. (See below.)

LOADING INSTRUCTIONS

l. Insert Dragon Wars disk Side 1 (label facing up) into your disk
drive.
2. Turn on your disk drive, then turn on your computer.
3. Commodore 64: Type LOAD "8",8,1 and press the RETURN key.
Commodore 128: The program will load automatically.
After it finishes loading, the title page will appear. Press the "U"
key to go to the Utilities screen, or any other key to stop the music
and continue. (See "Starting the Game" on page 2 of this reference
card.)

DRAGON WARS UTILITIES

From the Utilities screen, you may back up your Dragon Wars disks, or
transfer characters from Bards Tale I, II, or III into the Dragon Wars
world. To back up your disks, press "1". From this point the copy
program will prompt you to insert disks when needed.

To transfer characters from Bards Tale I, II, or III, press "3" from
the Utilities screen and then follow the prompts to copy the
characters into the Dragon Wars world. Note that transferring
characters will destroy any existing characters and saved game on your
Dragon Wars disk. Your characters will not be transferred perfectly,
either; expect them to lose all of their magic items and most of their
power and spells. Transferred characters get 12 character points. Once
your party has started the game, press X to distribute the points.

STARTING THE GAME

If you are playing for the first time, the computer will list the four
starting characters, and ask if you want to begin. You may press "B"
to begin a game of Dragon Wars with this party, or you may delete some
or all of the characters and create your own. (See "Creating
Characters.") To delete a character, press the character's number and
then press "D" to delete. From this list, you can also rename and view123

The Rumors
This game was only rumoured to exist until July 2025. It was recovered from Csory's old disks with the help of siz. For historical reasons, here are the collected rumours:

Mention In Gewgaw

Ati is looking for this the game in his Gewgaw.

Mention In CoV Sun News

In the diskmag, released by Proky, he wrote: "It's not ready, perhaps by the time the paper (CoV) is out(?...)".

Mention In Spy Collection

You can read the following by Bag in the first intro's scrolltext in Spy Collection:

"MEGORULOK A DRAGON WARS-ERT ! REMELEM CSINALOD !(VAGY MAR REGEN KESZ,CSAK EN NEM TUDOM?)"

Translation:
I'm crazy about Dragon Wars! I hope you're working on it! (Or has it been completed already, and I just don't know about it?)"

Mentioned In CoV Mooo Plus

The game is listed in the CoV SPV Katalogus chapter published in CoV Mooo Plus. Note that this is simply a list of print magazines, where the game is mentioned.

From Scene Focus 02, page 04:
"what's with the long awaited game, called "dragon wars+4" ?! it should be converted by floppy-master csory...?!?! nukeman wrote in the c-f & in his nuke papers, that he is responsible for the colors,as we remember...!!! hey nuke-babe,don't you think, that you better shut your big mouth in the future ?!"

Mentions in In Scene Focus Diskmag

From Scene Focus 06, page 1:
"-dragon wars (produced by csory) is out now. nukefucker sells it,like usually"

Mentions In Nukepaper

Nukepaper magazine has followed the making of Dragonwars since the early issues. In the last issue, Nukepaper 08, the following is mentioned:

"CSORY hat nach weihnachten ersteinmal zwei wochen frei, in denen er endlich DRAGON WARS und MAGIC CANDLE fertigmachen will. Er hat es mir versprochen!! DRAGON WARS wird dann schon auf der SID-KARTE laufen. Anfang des neuen jahres habe ich es dann. Fuer das neue jahr stehen folgende produkte auf der liste: SOUL CRISTALS,MOONFALL,SPACE ROGUE und noch einiges mehr."

Translation:

"CSORY has two weeks off after Christmas, in which he finally wants to finish DRAGON WARS and MAGIC CANDLE. He promised me! DRAGON WARS will be using the SID-CARD. At the beginning of the new year I will have them. For the new year the following products are on the list: SOUL CRISTALS, MOONFALL, SPACE ROGUE and some more."

Mentioned In Highlights

Most other mentions are talking about the game being converted by Csory. However, it looks like Ceekay also had similar plans; he write the following in the megademo Highlights:

"WATCH OUT FOR NEW PROGS FROM CEEEKAY; COMMING SOON REALLY DRAGON WARS AND BARDS TALE I."

However, he did not convert either games. (Bard's Tale I was eventually converted by Csory.)

Mentioned In TwinPigs

The game is cited in the news chapter of TwinPigs #1:

"CSORY CSINÁLJA A DRAGON WARS-OT"

(Translation: "Csory is working on Dragon Wars".)
