| I can't find a keyboard spring for a Plus/4
Recently scored another Plus/4, I have two others and a C16 that needs repair. It is missing a keyspring, those trumpet shaped ones and I have not found anyone selling them! The springs I see people selling saying that are for a Plus/4 are regular looking things. I checked another keyboard I have and it also has that trumpet/funnel shaped spring. Can anyone help or know of someone who sells them?
This one has a dead TED and I have a replacement on the way and will then test it, is there a good test program out there for this? The C16 has a dead CPU but the other socketed chips are fine, I did a swap test, but it still black screens. It did have a blown fuse and replaced it and tested the voltages and they are fine. I am in the USA and want to get all 3 100% running and convert one to PAL so I can run any software made for them with the right machine.

I asked a couple of guys, this topic hasn't really come up before, I think.
Just for clarification; did you mean the springs under the buttons? The one that pushes the pressed button back to the upper position? If so, there should be about 50-something of them, right? Or did you mean the spring that carries the GND between the PCB and the supporting iron plate? I've heard that you can leave it out, there should be no problem.
In terms of people selling parts... I'm not really aware of anyone doing that. If you have friends who have half-cannibalized machines, maybe you could ask them. Otherwise try to scour the net, you might find a web-shop that has parts (if you do, let us know too)

Do you mean these springs? This is a photo of a disassembled "Canadian" plus/4 keyboard. In Europe we have different ones with straight springs.
To reply your question: unfortunately I'm not aware of any source for these springs. What Csabo wrote: most probably you have to "cannibalize" it from another plus/4.

Yup, that's the springs! I was hoping I could buy one from someone with a lot of parts. Worst case I might have to try to rig something up but the diameter of the springs at the top that go into the keycap is pretty small....

That is not the correct spring, none of the three Plus/4s I have use that style, they all use the style as pictured that look like a trumpet.

For $100 you get 10000pcs. Then you sell them 0.05€/piece. Good business on the long term. Or it os nok and you wasted $100. The best would be to srnd a sample. They are the experts. They can produce 10000 pcs after the provide sample. And our community is covered for the next cenrury with springs
