| Re: Hypaload 1551
I was browsing P4W (as one does on a random Tuesday), and bumped into Hypa Load (Tron). This led me down a rabbit hole, taking a closer look at Hypaload by Ceekay.
Looks like we had 2 separate entries of this program in the database (V3 and V7), which I merged into just one. The program's name was "wrong", in the sense that the title in the program itself shows "HYPALOAD 1551 V7.0", so we shouldn't call it "HYPALOAD V7 1551". (I kept the old name in the notes though.)
What I found interesting is that the Tron "demo" says Ceekay wrote something like "YOU CAN'T CRACK THIS PROGRAM". So, there might have been a version of Hypaload that had copy protection. After some more digging, I found a reference to this in Club Info 04, where they mention that Hypaload is "Kein PD!" (not Public Domain).
After looking through my disk archives, I also found V4.7 of Hypaload on a random disk It always surprises me when we find "new" "old" stuff in 2025. Dig through your archives people
So, does anyone recall a copy-protected version of Hypaload?
And now some meta commentary: I do this kinda of stuff ^ nearly every day. Look at some old program, dig into it a bit, try to add more info, usually fall down a rabbit hole and end up very far from where I started. The "demo of the day" and "game of the day" are good places to start! But I stopped telling people about this. I might PM Luca, but that's it. That made me think, when did P4W become a site where I feel like "I'm not even going to ask about Hypaload, 'cause who the heck cares about some lost 1551 turbo from the '90"? Honestly I guess it's the lack of feedback. Which is fine. I know, I know, the age of forums is over and all that, plus I shouldn't complain since our little forum is quite active, and I love you all, it's amazing that we're still here. So, I dunno, I might post a bit more, and maybe with the iconic reactions the "lack of feedback" will disappear. |

Wow, I've already changed the filenames on Othersi.de before reading this, and that sick random checking is a classic for me too. Nukewar Plus/4 has been started exactly that way: in the first minutes you're gonna write a note only, one hour later you play with a new software sprites' code. |

Digging up pieces of historic relics, finding and disseminating info and knowledge about those is always fun both for the archeologist and for the thankful visitor of the museum as well. |

So, does anyone recall a copy-protected version of Hypaload? No takers on this one? Maybe I should specifically called out the German sceners, if this did exist, it was probably sold in German only. |
