 Emotional Iconic Reactions!

EmotisAh, emotional icons, or emoticons (or emotis for short)!... Bright, colorful images that bring joy to us all. The world's first emotis were of course featured in the classic 1984 Commodore 16 game Exorcist, invented by Grigory Duddlovich. The game's happy protagonist, Smiley, shines up the place, while the evil monsters (Frownies) are spreading woe. The rest, as they say, is history - from the breakthrough success of this humble game, emotis are everywhere nowadays, from single-ply toilet paper to accountant hats.

Why mention them now? Well, today we're introducing a wonderful new feature on our forum: react with emotis! Oftentimes, when an enthusiastic programmer releases a game after months of hard work, clicking the "[ Reply ]" button and writing "Heh, neat geam" is just too much work. It's 2025 after all, nobody reads or writes anymore. Suffer and toil no more: forum users can now react with two clicks of the mouse. "But Csabo, you handsome genius, won't I be overwhelmed by the thousands of available emotis?" Worry not, dear fictional question-asker, as we've thought of this; you will find only the absolutely essential ones.

We remain technology innovators with this internet-first feature on Plus/4 World. Any similar features on other, uglier websites are only a figment of your imagination. Enjoy!

Wait a moment: basket, broccoli, socks. Got the irony of the latter one, missed the other two grin

 Re: Emotional Iconic Reactions!

What is there to miss? Sock, broccoli, basket: all the basics have been covered.

I've heard someone saying that the emotional icons are not called "emotis" but rather "emojis". What a load of bunk! Apparently "emoji" is the Japanese version. I looked it up, but oh boy, I don't recommend you guys do it - whatever you do in your own home is your business, but don't bring that filth into our innocent little corner of the web.

 Re: Emotional Iconic Reactions!

I take it that these are the same as Facebook Reactions. Handy feature.

But what do some of these peculiar reactions mean? headscratch

Particularly the broccoli, plant pot & socks confused

What?! Some other, uglier site already copied my invention?! Well, I never... (That said, perhaps you should check the date the original post was made.)

 Re: Emotional Iconic Reactions!

Excuse my French but why the hell don't we use the "promised" Exorcist emoticons?? Would be stylish and original and an obvious choice... When I have read the news about this new feature I thought they would be used not the now extinct broccoli and the plain common ones...
