Re: Forthcoming new RPG game Are they AI generated? The first one says "SYNEGY"
A lot of forums have AI art banned completely. I wouldn't want to do that here, but in general, I would discourage everyone from using AI, IMHO it diminishes the value of human creativity.
Re: Forthcoming new RPG game Yes, they are mostly generated with AI. Now we could start a philosophical discussion, but I don't think anyone here wants that. The images aren't "signed" by me either, as is usually the case if you look closely. For me as a one-man group, it's not easy to be a coder and a graphican at the same time, especially when time is short. And you can see how stupid AI can be in some cases by looking at the error that, funnily enough, everyone saw except me. And it wasn't because I described the picture incorrectly. In my opinion, AI does not reduce creativity but rather craftsmanship.
I see it as support without which I would not be able to create a program of this quality at the moment. It remains to be seen whether the images will even make it into the game.
Re: Forthcoming new RPG game From my perspective, I think its ok to use A.I. as long you make it clear from the beginning. Of course most of us will prefer good old handmade games, since you see the human creativity and touch in it. But as you say, as a "one man band" you have to make compromises if you want to make your vision reality. I think things that connect emotionally to the user, like graphics and music, is most effective, when its made by humans. Code is not connecting, just a tool to make things happen, so here A.I can really help.
The use of AI is a philosophical question. The fact that AI generated the images should not mean that we don't need that game, for example... Maybe AI could be added to the credits, or we could use a "human made" logo like the Sarge, if everything was drawn by a human. I don't now, we are still learning this...
Re: Forthcoming new RPG game When I decided to "create" and release DVM Andrea Brown Drawn By AI, the idea behind was exactly this:"The whole matter starts here", a sort of philosophyc milestone. With "the matter" I exactly intended all the pros and cons – in ethics, morality, taste, creativity, society changes – which the usage of AI would have taken into our life in general, and in particular into the Scene.
After two years and a half from that release, the artists reacted by activating several tools online which defend their works from the monstruous hunger of the tti-AIs, like Glaze; or they reacted by establishing organizations targeted to open a debate about how much pressure the AIs perform over several forms of job, and about the limitations to AIs to predate the artists' works, like EGAIR in Europe.
Meanwhile, in the same range of time, the tti-AIs have completely changed their potential, gaining a preponderant position of power against the plain human creativity. Compare the picture I converted in the August of 2022 with those casual four which I literally did in SECONDS with absolutely no effort.
Obviously, the topic here looks like veeery large and articulate in so many paths, and this is not the right thread where to talk about it. I only wanna point out that, hey: here we are into it, we too are now, taking the glaring example of the Haegar's logo as a starting trigger.
Re: Forthcoming new RPG game First of all, I would like to apologize if something I said yesterday came across as a bit unfriendly.
@TRP - it's great that you're coming back to the game.
It's questionable whether I'll be able to incorporate any of the images into the game by the end of the competition. I think that, like with Bombtank, there will be a slightly revised version and then there will be one or two images. With the help of AI or without, I don't know yet.
I have nothing against AI except for it's name... I don't really think that the naming is correct. For me AI is something like SKYNET when it knows about itself that it exists. These chat programs and video/audio/image generating algos are "nothing more" for me than what they are, algos with immense databases behind them, not in any way they are intelligent. I think that by naming "them" so, people diminish themselves. It's good in marketing becasuse most people don't think about the real differences between these two very different things.

A new production (game, demo, etc.) is always welcome, no matter the tools used.
