Maybe Claude is more a Plus/4 guy..

Litwr: Yes, and the step after next is AI coming here and making comments... It is a bit ridiculous, because AI teaches people not to think. Most of them like it... I am sorry, I still like thinking.

The next step is evident. AI will play and enjoy C+4 games.

Along of any evident flaw or instability or basic simplicity, this represents a big leap forward.

Wow nice! The C64 version has some rasterinstabilities, though.

  |   AI assembly coding on plus/4 and C64
I periodically gave simple C64 programming tests to the current AI models, but until recently, they all failed. But the current top LLM models (Claude 4+, GPT-5 and Gemini 2.5 Pro) can easily handle C64 and plus/4 assembly coding at a beginner level. They also know the VIC chip surprisingly well.
I wrote this simple C64 intro entirely with Claude Code. Only on a few occasions did I give it explicit details about how to implement something, most of the time I just clearly defined my expectations for the next step. With minimal prompting it could have been made more optimal, but I let it follow its own "thinking". The scrolltext and the color gradient were also generated by AI from minimal specifications.
Claude only had a very superficial knowledge of the Plus/4’s video chip, but after giving it the TED documentation from here and pointing out its misunderstandings, I was able to port the intro quickly to plus/4.
I uploaded the intros and their source code here. https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1cYeQ3XeEYbanrUDdV5O99JHx0MKlGAVn?usp=sharing
