Ciao CHICKEN,
I'm SVS from FIRE crew of Italy.
I read you found OLIVETTI PCs with 8086. Perhaps they are "M24" model.
If yes, I know them and I can tell you that to do them booting, (and working) you must use DOS 3.21 (or 3.31? I don't remember), any greater releases.
If you still have problem (I/O etc) it could be they used a slidly modified BIOS (98% standard). In fact on boot [green :) ] display, I remember reading "OLIVETTI DOS RELEASE 3.??" instead MS-DOS.
