Yo,

Parallel connected drives was quite common, but I guess as the scene changed some knowledge was lost also. It's quite simple, in the 1541
there is a free parallel port which is not used normally, all you have to do is put an extra connector on your 1541 and lead the port lines into that. On the Plus4 there is a 6529 parallel port which is available in the User Port. You have to connect the two port with a cable and thats all. With the C16 it is a bit different, as there is no 6529 is available in it. Our solution was to put a 8255 into the C16. For a better description and other C16 alternatives check Levente's CLINK, there is a very good doc in it about these things.

Pigmy wrote a lot of parallel copier, loader, and even saver progys.
The fastest copier was either 9sec or 15sec (I don't remember exactly).
The disk changes took more time, than the actual reading and writings!!!
Hmmm, it doesn't had a 256k version, but as I'm thinking about it that could make it much faster.

Strange... I had never got a problem like this... Of course are always used either Pigmy's or my programs to copy... :)

120DM ??? That's a lot. For this you can get a complete config here,
Plus4+drive+joy+disks!!!

To Levente (where to buy 1551 tip) (sorry this will be hungarian)
Nezd meg a Varosligetben a Petofi Csarnoknal a bolhapiacot. Szombat-

I got it... You remember the postcard with Eddie? :-)
I also got some cool postcards from Holland.
