Subject: Plus/4 king to visit
Peter Hanson, the self-proclaimed Plus/4 king of England, is going to visit the Fresno Commodore User Group on June 23. Peter is on vacation
(holiday) here in the United States from June 11-25. He will speak about his highly-expanded Plus/4 system, his more than 10,000 Plus/4
programs (many converted from the C64), the Commodore and Amiga scene in the United Kingdom, and life in his hometown of Haywards Heath
(south of London). Expect him to show flyers, magazines, and newspapers. And if FCUG members are nice, he'll join the club (our first international member!).

If you are in the Fresno, California area on that date, come and greet our international traveller. Have plenty of questions ready and show him some good, old hospitality.

Due to the public library not letting us use the conference room on June 23, the meeting will be held on that day from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
at the Senior Citizens Center, first floor, Manchester Mall, Highway
41 and Shields Ave., in Fresno.

The Commodore Plus/4 was Commodore Business Machines attempt to improve on the Commodore 64. It sported a better BASIC (3.5), more colors available on the 40-column composite screen, and improved floppy-disk drive (1551), and built-in productivity programs.
Unfortunately, it was handicapped by non-standard connections for cables, no SID (6581) chip for decent sound/music, high failure of its cpu, and lack of support especially in North America. After a year or so on the shelves, CBM killed off the Plus/4.

Truly,
Robert Bernardo
Fresno Commodore User Group
