First, it's not a good idea to use an I/O card in a machine that has an integrated I/O controller already. It may slow down the machine considerably, even if you've connected all stuff - disks, first parallel port and serial ports - to the integrated connectors.

Second, with old parallel ports, there's no way of setting the port type
_anyway_. Unless you have some jumpers on the card - which is quite unlikely.
