Congrats on getting your new PC! happy

Nice to see your new monster running 0.58, show off.

I'm getting 1200% (85fps) with 0.57.
Machine spec: P4 2.4Ghz with a Geforce 3 Ti 200.

 Re: Beat my YAPE!

Crown: for real? That's fast man. Mine is a 3.2 GHz Pentium 4, 512 MB RAM + all the other crap considered "top of the line". I gots me a nice 17" flat panel monitor too wink I hate to think that in a few years this will be slow.

It's also kinda ironic when I think about this: I have this PC sitting here, and next to it the good old Plus/4. One is 3200 times faster than the other (assuming the plussy is running on 1Mhz). That's 20 years difference for you.

 Re: Beat my YAPE!

uhm.. its more like 50,000 times faster. Do not forget execution times, parallelism, wider data, more powerful machine instructions etc..

And 512meg is low end memory wink

Csabo in a few years your PC will still be F A S T. happy
It looks like the old 32bit technology has come to a stand still, almost. 3.2Ghz have been about for some time and are still one of the fastest PC's we the puplic can buy. The only thing that will let it down is the GFX card. You have more than enough power. happy
Even the newly released Doom 3 which will stay in the gaming scene for the next 3-4 years as a bench mark game uses half your power. Nower days GFX cards are everything and a good dose of memory, not so much the CPU. wink

 Re: Beat my YAPE!

About 1040% (37 fps) with YAPE 0.57 NTSC on my humble XP1800+ happy

And Lando, if AMD get their way, we'll all be using 64bit x86 CPUs in a few years happy

 Re: Beat my YAPE!

Yes it is for real...
It is a 3Ghz Norhtwood P4 with HT 800Mhz FSB 512K cache (so it is not the fastest available), with 1Gbyte dual channel RAM and Ati 9800XT card, nothing is overclocked...

Actually Doom3 pretty much uses all this power, and it could handle some more for smoothness. It is playable but could be smoother...

 Re: Beat my YAPE!

@ Crown, Doom 3 runs fine on my 2.4Ghz but could do with some tasty GFX card as my Geforce 3 Ti 200 is the min spec card. Choppy frame rate, only tryed 800*600 so far. A spare gig of memory wouldn't go a miss either as xp has to almost reload its self when I quit. happy

Might hold out for the xbox version than rather waste money for one game. wink

@ Ulysses777, yeah thats the way forward but people are too scared of change.
