Sidius without looking at the C64 version I dont think its genuine. Each plane is made up of 3 colours plus the back ground which is 2 colours hehe. 
It could look like that but the planes would have to flash two different characters to hide the blockyness, much like Legionnaire. 
@BB Software, it does look very sweet though! It you get it looking like it is I take my hat off to ya!
