James, when I talked about the keys I meant not the wiring but the layout, the physical shape of the buttons that is. I could not verify it at time of posting but those could match.
About NMI: it's not only not handled by the OS but is also not wired to any of the pins of the processor, so there's no way one could cause and/or detect an NMI with these processors. As for the tape routines, they simply set a timer, poll the tape read line and check if the timer interrupt gets set or not (bit 0 or 1).
