I do not understand what is this fuzz about privacy, I do not care about my IP or email or phone number or whatsoever.... I just do not understand the concern... What would happen is somebody knows your IP? Are you a hacker or what? Then you SHOULD be able to mask your IP! 
Anyway, the only downside is what TLC maestro mentioned.
