 Template Creator Plus4 released!

Hi! For those who don't know, Template Creator is a utility that creates, handles, organizes and uses template files. I just uploaded an update: I mainly gained .5k for templates in memory for the C64 and added Plus4 support. The new files are at https://sourceforge.net/projects/tmpcreat/files/cbm/. I ask you to try them out and tell me what you think. Thank you.

Csabo: If you try and like this program, I ask you to add it to your web site.

 Re: Template Creator Plus4 released!

Your manual reports the word "template" 39 times. Now we need to have a ultimate definition of what a template is. This programs seems to transform some .SEQ files into those "templates" which can be used on a PC in order to...? Are they programs in C? Please give us a definition of a template, thanks in advance.

 Re: Template Creator Plus4 released!

Consider a template as a file from which you want to derive other files, a form that can be the basis for multiple documents. Does this help?

This is the same answer you've written on Lemon64 after the same question. At the moment, it sounds like Notepad+++, basically a text editor.

I suggest to add a template made by you as an example, already into the .D64 spread by you.

Well...there are some for Super C 64/128 at https://sourceforge.net/projects/tmpcreat/files/cbm/templates/SuperC/, but they're for Super C, and Super C has no Plus4 port. They might show TmpCreat off, though.

 Re: Template Creator Plus4 released!

Saw the example files, and they're are mainly the same text page. Ok, it's a plain text editor, whatever you wanna use the produced text for. Thank you, you promptly dissolved the mist.

 Re: Template Creator Plus4 released!

It's not a plain text editor but can copy plain text files. Try running the program, selecting Get Info, inserting the example floppy, pressing any key and perusing the files. Then try using the Create New feature to create a new file from one of the files on the templates disk and reading the results.

 Re: Template Creator Plus4 released!

Tested. It continuosly fails. Also, I tried to change the USR files in something else but it's stuck at USR parameter. But I here have to care of the right data to put into our archive, so you tell me: does it produce something different from text? Otherwise, is a plain text editor, and we finally have a category for it, counting that on all the other places where you posted about it, the users still are puzzled in the same way of us, and you wrote the same answers, which didn't solve the riddle.

Moreover, this is the 10th answer to your announcement, we're trying to have a simple answer, and it seems that the only subject of this tool is: to get our attention ;)

 Re: Template Creator Plus4 released!

Template Creator should handle most files that aren't REL files. It also can process files that aren't text files. I don't understand why it's not working for you. What are you doing?

 Re: Template Creator Plus4 released!

Please tell us about the file it can handle, not the file it can't. REL USR or SEQ, at the moment we're talking about text, or at least file which aren't code. And this tool is a text converter among those files.

 Re: Template Creator Plus4 released!

A reason you can't change the file type is because I didn't think anybody would need to change it. Another reason is that I don't know how. You might notice that you can't edit the file size, either. If this feature is desired, is there an easy way to do it?

 Re: Template Creator Plus4 released!

Again, it should handle most files that aren't REL or GEOS files. It's not a converter: it's a copier.

 Re: Template Creator Plus4 released!

It's a copier! Ok, thank you, it will be categorized as a copier then, riddle solved.

I had to change the screenshot, the copy you gave doesn't set the black selection bar.

 Re: Template Creator Plus4 released!

Uhh...can you post a link to Template Creator online at https://sourceforge.net/projects/tmpcreat/files/ and say there are versions for the C64, C128, DOS and Windows, please? Can you also say there are example templates there but none for the Plus4? Also, the description says it converts among file types. I ask you to remove that description. It is a copier but also can organize the files to copy: it preserves the filename, type, size and a format name you give it. The format name can be any category system you give it. Thank you.

 Re: Template Creator Plus4 released!

No, no, no, yes, no.

There's the GitHub link for who's interested wink And it's enough, especially because you surely would improve your stuff, right? That's the reason why GitHub exists. I could remove that definition, but if not a straight copier, it's mainly a copier, with features. And sounds good to me, notes are a brief version of a description. Thank you back.

Oh I added "organizes". And I changed the screenshot again: the color of the selection bar changes due to the reset pattern of the machine, perturbating $053B during the set up phase, so it can be $00 or $FF.

Hey, see? In this moment of the history, we are the only site which defines your tool! Gooold medaaaal! :D
