 Plus/4 Video Problem

Hi guys. I just found a Plus/4 and thought I would play around with it. It seemed to work fine but after it warms up a while the last few lines of the display start to flicker, and then after a while longer the last few lines of characters become distorted and unreadable. I swapped the power supply but that didn't help. I changed monitors but that wasn't it. Believe it or not I bought another Plus/4 and it does the SAME THING! Is this a known issue? Thanks!

It is not known, but perhaps a picture/video would have been a good idea to illustrate the problem.

(Without this, the best idea would be to assume that the hardware is 40 years old and could have any number of problems. happy )

Sure I can take a photo of it. How do I attach a photo to a post?

I'm afraid, non-registered forum visitors cannot attach pictures to their posts. They are not allowed to put internet links into them either. You could use the Upload feature, find it in the bottom row of the menu in the top of the page, and ask the administrators in your post to attach your picture to it.

 Re: Plus/4 Video Problem

Its unlikely that two different machines have the same bug.
Maybe you try out another Monitor/TV.
Otherwise, open the machine and try to feel which of the chip gets very hot (be carful though).

 Re: Plus/4 Video Problem

The two machines have the exact same issue. After about 1/2 hour the last line starts to flicker and then after a while will stops displaying at all. Then it might come back normally or flicker again. I thought it was probably the monitor so I switched to using a different monitor and much to my surprise they still did it. I thought maybe that was a know issue with the TED or some other chip, but I guess not from what you guys are saying. I guess I'll keep looking. Thanks.

CPU, TED, PLA death is common. What if PLA died in both machines?
