 New uploaded utilities

Is there any good-soul (hungarian) that could add a simple English translation of titles of the recent uploaded utilities? (...and for the next ones)
Many thanx from non-Hungarian peoples.

Done, there was only a few anyway. Note for editors: when you add a non-English software title, you can enter the English translation of the title to "TransName" field.

I downloaded and ran the Pretzel program, but it made no pretzels.

I think I will write a program called Buttered Toast. wink

Seriously, it would be nice, if you are entering a file to the database, if you could enter a description of what it does, and an English translation if the program (or your description) is not in English.

Screenshots are appreciated but I can understand why those may be a couple of days behind.

You can or you can't? happy In any case it's probably because the webmasters do not get paid for their work here. When I added a few titles for example (I do that quite often) it usually lacks a description when only the name is known. There are a bunch of tapes from me waiting to be transferred and uploaded nevertheless I have added them to the DB.

 Re: Buttered Toast

In your joke you're probably referring to Pattinka. The problem with that one is that we simply don't have it. I've never seen that one. Therefore no description, no screenshots. I also have no idea what the title could be referring to, probably once I see the game, I could give you a better translation. For the moment that was the only thing I could remember, sorry. More than likely is has nothing to do with pretzels, though.

Ah, I was the one who has added Pattinka. Found it on one of my tapes but it failed to start up properly, nevertheless I have added it to the DB as it was missing. It was a logical game (AFAIK) but it's been around 15 years that I have fired it up for the last time, so I can't remember anymore.

 Re: New uploaded utilities

My comments go back to a conversation I had with Csabo a few months back. In the Bulletin Board System era, a 'new upload' meant that there was a downloadable file. Therefore I refer to a 'new upload' as something that I can see a screenshot or description of, and download the associated file if I am interested.

In my opinion, there should be a seperate screen for 'new records in database' for items that only have a name and author/software house/other details, but no screenshots or download links.

Atilla, I am aware that the webmasters work for free. I work for free on my own website, remember? wink It seems that Csabo has more available time while at his place of employment, as he can add things during normal work hours in North America (Csabo is in Canada, I'm in the US). I do not have that opportunity, so my updates will tend to occur on weekends or in the evenings while Europe sleeps.

The comment about screenshots being a few days behind also goes back to myself and Csabo, for when I added the Commodore US/Canada and Tri-Micro titles to the database, I sent screenshots and cover scans to Csabo, and many months later only a few have been added.

It seems to me that if you have the original program on cassette or disk (or punchcard, joke toward SVS wink ) then you have the programmer's name or software house from either the packaging or the program itself, and can submit a screenshot to Csabo or Lando when you add the title to the database.

 Re: New uploaded utilities

These "new uploads" are these days very rarely original releases (original in its commercial meaning). Most software that have been added are simply a lost gem on a forgotten disk or tape. Note that the scene actually contributed just as much or even more than what was available in the stores in those days (worldwide, not per country). This means no cover, no serial nemuber, no TAp image etc.

 Re: New uploaded utilities

I've said it before (here) and I will say it again: whatever appears on the New Uploads page does not mean that you can actually download anything. The are just new additions to the database.

Csabo, you stated yourself (as I said above): "Maybe "New Additions" would be more appropriate". Click your own link then read the entire thread.
