 Re: Borgok Kincse

This was a game that always fascinated me. I was curious to find out how it ends. There was a partial solution here on the site, written by me in 2009... So of course today was the day I had to pick it back up after 16 years, and finish it happy

I found one bug noted in the solution. The game has a lookup table for items, and instead of having values like... $1E, $1F, $20, $21 --- it has $1E, $1F, $21, $21! This means when the user picks up item $20, they end up having $21 in their inventory, making the game impossible to complete.

That is literally just a single bit though... It's possible that the original game was not buggy and our D64 file was incorrectly copied. It's also possible that the original was buggy, and I'm the first person to complete it. Who knows.

The game has MANY puzzles, if you want to take a crack at it (Hungarians only, I guess), I added many hints so that you don't have to use the solution, and also made a map, which contains only minimal spoilers.

Funny message from the end of the game: "If you liked this game, look for the next one, whose title is: (I don't know yet)" happy Those dreams or plans did not come to fruition, there were no more Plus/4 games from the author.

 Re: Borgok Kincse

Actually, the Moldi's archive too has a copy of this game, and the boot program has been differently packed, compared to the one we preserve in the archive. Unfortunately, a bad usage of the 681 Blocks! program in order to stuff how many programs in that disk, has damaged that file, possibly overlapping some crucial sectors of it. But, as I said before, the first block shows a different packing of the file.

Anyway,
PART I
can be loaded separately, and the game features the same wrong table with ...$1F $21 $21 $22, so basically the bug's there. Btw, seems that the coder has left an anti-hacker text on the screen while that file is loading...

I've found and uploaded A Borgok Kincse Leírás information demo. Could it be of any help?

Hah, that (the "Leírás") is an awesome find; it basically contains the entire solution. First of all, that confirms that I wasn't the first person to solve it grin Their solution is very similar to mine, with some things done in different order. However, there's nothing mentioned about that one item... Which would lead me to believe that our copy is somehow damaged.

Side note: please sceners root around your own disks, in order to find the alternative version of Borgok Kincse, which should have the first file of 33 blocks instead of the known 37 blocks version.

Interesting that the author named the folk in his game Borg just after Star Trek TNG had introduced them happy
