I think other, uglier sites don't disallow this... There's no strong reason for us to do that either.
IMHO the only usage of this feature should be to react to a post written by someone else when you're not already replying. However, that's not a rule, you guys are welcome to use it any way you like 
Also, I'd be open to adding more reactions, if needed, but generally they should be things that are simple and can't be misinterpreted. For example "I agree" / "Love it" are simple enough... But when someone disagrees or dislikes something, then they should reply and explain what/why.
