 Site Updates

The forum avatars have been broken for a while, they have been fixed. You should be seeing them now (unless you turned them off under options). The handling for them has been completely rewritten (it's now more efficient and less resource intensive), please let me know if you see anything odd.

As always, comments/ideas/feature requests about the site are welcome!

 Re: Site Updates

Send me the new one (80x80 image) in a PM happy Edit: I've updated it (site might cache it for a while), you can still PM me a newer one if needed.

 Re: Site Updates

New feature on the forum: by putting >(space) in front of a line of text, it will automatically become a quote. Should work even when it's nested.

An example:
> > Someone says something.
> Then someone else replies.

will become
Someone says something.

Then someone else replies.

That's it!

Nice! I use this feature in PM a lot, so much more convenient! Thank you!

 Re: Site Updates

A couple of minor fixes:
- sometimes on the Search results, a warning was shown (fixed)
- on software pages, the [ add ending ] link was placed oddly (moved with the other links)
- when receiving a PM from someone that replies to an earlier message, the "<- Replies to" link didn't work... Now it does happy

This last one was pretty annoying, I'm surprised no one complained about it grin

Third point would have been my next complaint, in fact.

 Re: Site Updates

Circling back to keeping track of releases: the last piece of this section of the site has been added today.

On software pages, under releases, you should see a new link that says [ See owned copies ]. Clicking that link will produce a page like this, where each owned copy is listed - and, if you're looking to buy one, maybe one of them is marked as "for trade" or "for sale".

There's also a BIG page which lists all owned releases, it's probably not that useful by itself. Click " Show Only For Trade or Sale" for a shorter (and maybe more useful) list.

Let me know if there's anything missing from these newly added pages!

 Re: Site Updates

A couple of minor updates to the editing interface:
- For fields that are meant to be true/false (e.g. marking an owned cassette for trade or for sale), instead of a text field with 0 or 1, there's now a checkbox. Hopefully everyone will find this more user friendly happy
- To prevent accidentally cutting off input, text fields will turn red if the typed value is too long (and the number of characters typed / maximum is shown).

 Re: Site Updates

Some updates that you might be interested in:

* When posting code that's wrapped in <pre> and </pre> tags, the < and > signs will NOT be converted. (In other words, the site won't mangle your BASIC code such as IF A < B THEN ...) In addition, when a smaller-than/greater-than sign has spaces around it, it will also NOT be converted. TBH this should have been fixed since forever, but I guess better late than never. Big thanks to @gerliczer for pointing this out.
* In the encyclopedia, you can create horizontal lines with three (or more) underscores in one line, just like in markdown. Thanks to @BSz for working with me on this one.
* In tables created with pipe characters, you can use the --- lines to specify the table header. This also means that you copy/paste the the code from Plus/4 World's plain editor to a markdown capable WYSIWYG editor, tables should work. Thanks to @siz for bringing this to my attention!

Got issues with the site? Lemme know, maybe it'll get fixed grin In this day and age (have you seen the word of the year?), I hope you guys appreciate that Plus/4 World is getting (slightly) better and better, which would not be possible without all of you guys.

@Csabo: We thank you for all the work you put in! We hope you will continue with the same enthusiasm in the future.

I wish you a very happy new year, and a lot of news, which will be the subject of many posts. Thanks!
