When you say "suppress all badlines", are you meaning: forcing a different value of $ff06 just a bit before scanlines 3/4, 11/12 and so on (where $ff06 and $ff1d got the same bit3) in a way like:
lda $ff1d
; any scanline
clc
adc #1
and #7
ora #$38
sta $ff06
