 New game: Tenebra (01/01/2022)

Hi all,

I have ported my recent C64 game Tenebra to Plus/4. It was quite well-received on C64, I hope you'll enjoy the Plus/4 version too. It actually looks better on Plus/4 because its bigger colour palette.

The levels are the same, so the related C64 videos on YouTube apply to the Plus/4 version too.

The game is free with an option to donate. Get it from here: https://h4plo.itch.io/tenebra

Enjoy!

Hi,

I cannot run it. I have downloaded twice, it looks loaded well, but after "run", just get "ready". I have tried with SD2IEC on C16(64kb).

Has anyone else had a similar experience?
Can I run it by G code from assembly?

 Re: New game: Tenebra (01/01/2022)

Haplo, the author of Tenebra has chosen to save the game as not packed and including the screen, so the game loads at $0C00. If you DLOAD the file, it starts from $1001 (beginning of the regular BASIC area) and won't work at all, so you should have to LOAD"*",8,1 it.
Better solution: download the exomized version I've done for you HERE.

Now but choice...I just wasn't aware of the fact that an unpacked PRG includes the screen data and doesn't work with DLOAD.

Haplo: after all, why saving from $0C00 if you clear the screen in $130A at the beginning of the game? wink

I don't know why it is saving from $0C00. I started the header at $1001 and all the code after that.

The project is built with "64tass -a -B". I didn't manually inspect the resulting PRG, I assumed it'd start from $1001. I'm not that experienced with the Plus/4 platform.

Found it. Two lines of redundant code from the Toop days.
