@Csabo, and Luca has a crazy 60k score!  I beat my old score by almost 4000 points, not sure why but I see my old score is still there.
One Jedi move that may help... On the early stages the enemy ships fly at the top part of the screen, instead of focusing on them train your eyes to focus of the enemy fire. Focusing on the enemy fire has a magic effect of slowing the pace of the game and as you'll last longer you may also notice many of the enemy have been removed in the process making it easier to clear the few enemies that are left. 
The delta wing dart enemies are evil as they fire super fast, try and keep out of the way and your notice there is a window when they don't fire.
