Hello, a classical music piece for testing my music routine: http://www.janne.peraaho.kapsuuli.net/releases/applications/plus4/sarabande.prg

Thanks happy The music routine has only vibrato and volume slide effects at the moment. I wrote the tune for testing those. I still need to optimise the code and add new effects, like arpeggio.

Please build it in par with its dedicated editor. Or add an editor later. Or not if you'd like to keep it for personal purposes. Meh, do what you want! grin

KiCHY regarding music editors: is there hope to reprise *that* editor you'd built around *that* player? wink I would love it...

@KiCHY
A user friendly music editor would be nice happy The music routine is currently not based on tracks and patterns. I wanted to see if a single stream of music data would work. However, that may change in the future.

Nice!

Assuming the bottom bar is showing raster time taken, it seems quite efficient at present. Do you anticipate extra effects like arpeggio taking a bigger chunk of raster time?

And I like learning new things, so I'd vote for an editor to go with the player. Nothing too fancy, just the full works! wink

 Re: Something to listen to

The white raster lines show how much time is spent for reading the notes and effect commands from the data stream. The grey lines show the time spent for performing the effects.

I've now added an arpeggio effect and it appears to be surprisingly fast in my initial tests. At the moment I have vibrato, volume slide, tremolo, and arpeggio effects ready, and I plan to add two more effects: glissando and portamento. I'm not yet sure if I should simulate two ADSR envelopes, or keep the current system which just turns the sound on and off.

Reading the data stream is inefficient. It needs to be improved. As well as the vibrato effect, which is too slow.

...

Here is a new test tune using the new features: http://www.janne.peraaho.kapsuuli.net/releases/applications/plus4/courage.prg

Thanks happy I still have to figure out how to make the player and the songs smaller. They consume a lot of memory in their present state.
