 Re: what is this?

I'm not sure if somebody really used his plus/4 to control a washing machine happy

More likely, the EPROM (looks like one) stems from an old control board and was just reused for something else. Maybe it's not a switch to turn it on and off but to switch between two different "systems".

 Re: what is this?

This is definitely not a plus/4 board. Perhaps a C16? I'm not really familiar with that one. happy
In the plus/4 the TED is in a "cage" and it's on the left of the CPU and the ROMs are seated perpendicularly below the TED. wink

 Re: what is this?

Looks like a C16 board to me, and the ("WASHER CONTROL" grin ) chip sits in the slot of the KERNAL ROM.

 Re: what is this?

I was mislead by Patrick mentioning an "old +4". Though, I did wonder about the metal cage wink Nevertheless, it's an EPROM – 256 KBIT (32KB X8).

http://www.datasheetcatalog.com/datasheets_pdf/M/2/7/2/M27256.shtml

And hopefully, there's something on it wink

Let's wait for Patrick to see if he dares hooking this board up to a monitor and tells us what happens.

 Re: what is this?

well, i am pretty sure that i took it out of an old +4, but it makes no big difference.

tomorrow, there is a commodore meeting and if i have time i will go there and see if i can hook it up and see what is on it.

is there more info about this EPROM? what did people normally put on it? games, utility?

 Re: what is this?

Since it's in the ROM socket, it's likely some kind of alternative OS (e.g. OS92.x or OS96) or some other kind of custom ROM. That's why I assumed the switch allows to switch between original ROM and whatever is on there.

Have fun happy

 Re: what is this?

well, the whole board is tested and everything is working.

yes, guys you were totally right it is a c16 board.

the good thing is that it has 64K and the ROM is Warpdos 1551. i even talked to the guy that installed it. he took the Washer Control sticker from his work, so that he knew that he installed that ROM.

the TED is dead...

 Re: what is this?

Is it only me or the site really sorely needs the contents of that EPROM?

WARPDOS 1551 V4, is on that ROM.

Me too. wink

I'd like to see that (and the 1551 counterpart too if there is one)

Patrick, the next time you go to Maarssen can you please make sure someone dumps that ROM for you? wink

 Re: what is this?

yep, i will see what i can do.

if there is someone in a hurry, i also can send you 1 of the ROMs. i have 2 sets, the ROM for the +4 and the ROM for the 1551.

 Re: what is this?

No hurry on my side, though what you have is extremely rare, so take good care of it happy I seem to recall there has just been a meeting so the next one is a bit farther off in the future, nevertheless, we can sit this out I guess wink I just recall I wrote a small program that saves the ROM contents of a disk drive into a PRG, perhaps you could run that. I'll dig it up for you and upload it to here.

In the meantime you could save the KERNAL ROM from machine code monitor with the 'T' command and save it to disk. It's not perfect but it'll probably work and it's better than nothing:

T C000 FCFF 1000
T FF40 FFFF 4F40
S "KERNAL1551" 8 1000 4FFF

And send then that file to us 'graag'.

 Re: what is this?

i have contact with the builder. he says it is not just a case of the 2 files (one for the +4 and the other one for the 1551) the 1551 also needs some extra ram. if i know more i let you guys know!

 Re: what is this?

Yeah the extra RAM is easily added to emulators by about a few lines of code wink Looking forward to it.

 Re: what is this?

I think WARPDOS required 8kb RAM in the 1551. It's been a long time since I heard about it. I think some guy named FRAGGLESOFT used to built that RAM extension.

 Re: what is this?

I've created a small utility to save ROMs. It saves all the present ROMs from the system and connected drives. You can find it at http://siz.hu/en/content/romsave.
PS: it requires at least 32k RAM.
