 The Life

Wake up guys! happy

Has anyone tried to play The Life? If you haven't yet, do so, it's worth it.

We talked about under-appreciated software before, I think this is one of those. On the surface it looks so intriguing and polished. I mean it has an actual pointer and a point-n-click interface! I haven't gotten very far with it, but I'm planning on figuring it out a bit more. So, I'm wondering about a few things:

1) Is this really a game, or some type of demo that's not really meant to be "played"?

2) Do we know anything about the release (origins, authors, etc)?

3) What's this about? How to you play? What are the rules?

Well, the directory says Redsoft, so... wink
I remember it was hard to display this borders'killer game, because the picture on the tv tends to de-stabilyze.

The game looks like this: you basically have to algorhythmically state time sequences in every moment of your life (wear, eat, wash etc...) clicking on the time segment first for a starting time, then for and end time (the first action needs ending time only, coz has 00:00 as a default); then the clock icon run them, am I right? "?" icon awaits for a further click on a "life action" to describe it. You can pick up objects to use while the action is running how times you need to use'em (with description, for example from the frigidaire), and have their description with UP. The rightmost icon deletes every chain of actions, clicking on the right black time segment.

 Re: The Life

I saw the Redsoft & Kidsoft note as well, but that could mean "cracked by", and the original is a commercial release. However, after digging a bit more into the game it's quite unlikely. Several messages are badly worded, so it's probably homebrew software.

There are 5 rooms. The room directly to the south from the start (hall) has an exit. I guess the game should score your efforts once you try to exit. I've seen some result messages in the code. However, I haven't been able to win or even lose yet... The game seems to hang a lot randomly.

Something else: like I said what got to me was the point-n-click interface. We should start tagging software with such tags. The groundwork is already there, we just call them "effects" now, but something like this is not an effect. Wouldn't in be cool to see a list of all software released that had this?

Yes, tagging them as "interactive adventure" or "graphic adventure" or "point'n'click" would be useful. I checked some of them, and they're claimed to be simply "adventure", like Borrowed Time, Tass Times in Tonetown, Uninvited...
