??? I thought this was an emulator forum, not a hardware forum! wink

I see nothing unusual about an 8501 being made in Hong Kong. I just took a peek at my reserve chips, and found 1 8501 made in HK and one from Taiwan. My 8360 reserves are all marked Taiwan on the underneath.

I've just looked at my CSG branded 8501, it's made in HK.

And my spare 8360s are from Korea.

The chips are just packaged in Hong Kong. All CSG chips were made in the same fab in US.

You might check this one... http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280118770332

Looks "promising", except for the fact that I couldn't make the seller answer my question whether he's selling late '90 (CSG) or old chips... IOW he won't respond to any eBay messages or e-mails whatsoever. Very unfriendly. From the other hand, _I_ won't pay €15 + €17 s&h just to know whether I'm about to enter yet another Russian roulette set (from my own experience, about 3 out of 5 "old" 8501s would die in the long run, sooner or later but predictively). So, if someone can make the guy confirm that those chips are late (1990) models (that are much more stable), it might worth trying to buy from him.

Ok, I tried to ask to him in the last minutes, got no answer.

He would relist the items in some time after the end of the auctions I'm sure... He seems to have these in stock... so he should still give an answer (if it's the only concern) I guess...

Must admit: I prefer the russian roulette...
