I have never heard of a JiffyDOS ROM for the SFD-1001.

Yeah, the SwinSID ultimate! A really nice project.
In fact I have never linked his name to SwinSID, so Robert, it was a really useful info for me.
These guys really rock!

IEEE488: I am still thinking as Plus/4 fan, sorry for my limited view.
As you have all those Commodores, and certainly C64 too, the Quicksilver and the Buscard are FAR better devices, than this one. As they can utilize via the Expansion port the extra data lines, the SFD1001 drive can load 4-5x faster than a 1541 (similar to 1551). (but they are pretty rare and expensive cards, as I see)

The IEC2IEEE if the poor man's IEE488 interface, it works, but slow. Maybe with JiffyDOS it may speed up but from where I may get a new ROM for SFD1001? Or not required as the drive is originally planned to work in parallel mode? (and the Plus/4 needs to get one Jiffy too..).

Oh, I have done business with Mate in the past; I bought the SwinSID Ultimate from him.

Thanks for the offer. I will consider it. I do have other IEEE interfaces -- the Telesys IEEE Interface, the Batteries Included BusCard II, and a Skyles Quicksilver.

@Robert,

So, finally I can confirm, that the IEC2IEE converter works properly with SFD1001 as a normal 1541 drive.
(hardwired as #9 device, but can be changed).
I had to clean the heads, remove some dirt from few IC's leg, repait an internal wire, and buy some new Quad Density disks.
(the drive did not format preformatted DD or HD discs, with HD discs it does not work at all, maybe it COULD work with normal fresh (unformatted) 48TPI DD discs too, but I wanted to be on the safe side to not delay further my tests).

Today finally I was able (with a C64):
- to format an 1MB disc with SFD1001 with a fresh Verbatim DS,QD soft sectored 96TPI disc
- save a BASIC file
- load it back successfully from disc.
-I tested with a low level fast Disccopy too, but it just created a bad file and hanged up (though directory reading worked).
I could later remove the bad file with "scratch" format.
-Speed is like the snail IEC version of 1541, no turbo, Jiffy or other speed up is possible, so 100% oldschool!
If anyone could make a Jiffy for this, it could be a beast!

I am sure it will work with Plus/4, just have to add a Plus/4 specific connector for the 5V. Probably it will be the user port, but could be the cassette port too.

The Hungarian guy made for me for ~20USD with all the cables and connectors.
His name is Mate Sebok, and he was on Arok 2015 too. He is an authorzed producer of the device, he got NLQ's confirmation.

My device is much smaller (just fits into a connector) and based on Atmega8, with upgrdaed code.
THEORETICALLY it's kernal support Jiffydos, but no success on that till now, but this one I cannot test myself
Maybe the interface knows it, but the drive also needs a firmware?

There are some really good expert in US who can make it.
But in case: just let me know if you want one, and I will organise it. I think ANYONEwho owns an IEEE488 device, it a must

(theoretically it can work with the IEEE printers and even with Commodore D9090 Hard Disk with a whopping 9.6MB size... or daisy chain 3 or 4 of them to reach the smalled SD card capacity ever made :-D )

This interface was built 2 years, and it required this time to confirm it rewally works (yeah, I had missing media, then dirty head, then some signal issues and a broken cable)

Next step is to modify the Interface to be compatible with Plus/4 too, probably will use the User Port 5V, do not want to risk my last Plus/4's TED with too high currents.

Thanks! I invited several CBM engineers to the show; however, I had to or will have to get them to videotape their comments.

Well, I am coming to Europe in September, and I could transport items that way. So far, I'm planning to visit England, Wales, Belgium, the Czech Republic, and Sweden.

When I visited Germany back in 2008, my friend Dirk gave me an IEC2IEE converter. When I got back to California and tried it out, it recognized that there was a drive on the buss but didn't do anything else.

Maybe the new IEC2IEE converter is better. Where do I find it?

Wow, I checked the program, and a of them sounds really interesting, especially with some special guests.
Fine program!

The raffles looks fantastic.
Would be nice to win a 1581, but I suppose the safe postage would cost more to Europe than it's value

C128CDR, SD-2 or SD-1 have built-in PSU with 110V/60Hz, and it is a rather complex operation to rework them,
(as I already have a SDF-1001, the 2031LP does not sound so interesting any more

)
BTW for ~20USD there is an existing newly made IEC2IEE converter you can plug into IEC socket of C64/C128 to handle an IEE device, though the speed is not higher than the 1541s')

One month 'til the Commodore Vegas Expo!

CommVEx v13 is only one month away, and there are so many details to take care of -- gathering the prizes (especially from those who are donating the goods to be raffled), getting the C= and Ami systems ready, putting together the A/V gear, prepping for the long drive, and filming and editing the CommVEx video presentations!

I myself have to film 1 or 2 interviews to do in the Bay Area, not forgetting to take care of filming the CommVEx presentations of FCUG members. My car will be so crowded with C= goods that I may have to depend on SCCAN (Los Angeles area) members to take some of the cargo to Las Vegas.

Then I have to make final contact with members from SCCAN, BACC (south San Francisco area), TOGA (San Jose) and SACC (Sacramento) who want to exhibit items at CommVEx. In other words, I'll have a lot of pre-CommVEx traveling to do, criss-crossing between Fresno, the Bay Area, Sacramento, and Los Angeles.
