Well, this is strange because I'm sure the orginial one looked different then those that came with that not-so-generic PSU (but maybe those were uncommon, too  ).
To sum it up... You are saying, either 2.1mm/5.5mm or 2.5/5.5mm will both work fine even though the former is prefered?!
Knew about that. I already got an 1A generic one which works fine but that is at a different place and I couldn't check which of the plugs from that one fit (I just tested by trial and error and one seemed ok).
This new PSU is actually 3A (which is probably an overkill) but I can use it for a couple of other geadgets I have and it's also accordant to the new eco-friendly standard. And just a few Euros more expensive than a cheap generic one.
