| P4I Format - The Plus4 Image "Industrial" Standard
Hello Everyone,
Lately, I’ve run into the issue that many people don’t know the *.p4i format, which was "introduced" here by several of us — Siz, Csabo, Chronos, Murphy and myself. The basic idea behind it — or at least among us — was to have a multiboticelli image viewer running under Windows that supports viewing such formats. The guys mentioned above got in touch with the developer of Multipaint to make sure that when we load or save files from Multipaint in the multiboticelli format, it would use the .p4i extension, instead of some nonsense like .bin or similar. And Xnview can be handle the p4i format also if you install these plugins.
The nice thing about this is that it had already been implemented earlier by a guy - Piotr Fusik - who programmed Recoil, so if you install that on your PC, then XnView will also be able to handle these files and load them properly.

In addition to that, I also use a software addon called SageThumbs, which allows Windows to display proper previews of Plus/4 and Boticelli files when browsing with thumbnails. I think this is really useful — many people might not know about it — but it integrates very well into my workflow. It makes developing for the Plus/4 much more convenient. I wanted to share this because it might be helpful for others as well. 3 |
