 Description | Another school year has ended and the fateful moment of report cards has come, the joy and pain of every student who is always grappling with grades that are never the desired ones.
Unfortunately, the computer cannot replace you during the questions and assignments in class, thus solving all the age-old problems, but on the other hand it can be of great help in recording and evaluating the results achieved, thus obtaining very useful statistics which will highlight the variations performance in various subjects.
Type the listing as usual, paying particular attention not to make any copying errors. To save time, we advise you to use the practical AUTO function, which avoids having to write the line number each time when entering lists with a standard interval between lines, as is the case with our lists. To activate this function, type AUTO 10 followed by Return, and enter the first line; when you type the next one, the computer will automatically write the line number for you. Having therefore reached the end of the transcription of the listing, save it on the mass memory (in fact, given the length of the program, we advise you to make a backup copy even halfway through the operation; in the event of problems such as a lack of you won't have to start the operation from scratch), and give the fateful RUN to see what will appear on the screen.
The use of the program does not present any difficulty, as the various choices are guided by the menu.
To select one of the operations, move the bar in reverse with the vertical cursor keys and press the space bar.
When starting a new set of grades, select the first New Entry option. The program asks you for confirmation of the operation, as any data in the memory will be canceled by a new entry. Press the S key, followed by Return, to proceed, or just Return to return to the menu; then enter the student's name and the list of subjects, always pressing Return after each subject; to end this phase type the asterisk after the colon. To add a grade, you must first enter the exact name of the subject (remember all the subjects you have introduced), and then the grade received, from 1 to 10.
When you have entered a certain amount of data, you will be able to view your progress over the course of the year; choose the desired subject and you will see an effective representation appear in the form of a bar graph.
Anyone with a printer will also be able to obtain a hard copy of the data entered: before printing, check that the printer is on and on Line and that the card is correctly inserted.
Of course, you can save and load data to disk or tape; press D in the first case and N in the second.
