Introduction
The sun has died and dense darkness flooded the realms, laden with
frightening creatures! Only the mythological Fortified Citadel is a
safe heaven in this cursed land.

Unfortunately, few are welcome within its holy walls: only the first who
reaches it will find the gates wide open, the others will wander in darkness,
forever...

Description
THE NIGHTLAND

THE NIGHTLAND is a text "board & video" game for COMMODORE 64 and PLUS/4 inspired
by the works of William Hope Hodgson and Otto Wlazlo's chiptune dungeon-synth album
released by Heimat der Katastrophe.
Enjoy the dusty old synthesizers of the music score while playing the board game
vs the CPU... and always roll the dice: YOU are faber tuae quisque fortunae!

THE GAME

THE NIGHTLAND is a classic Game of the Goose: you'll need 6-sided dice and pawns
(not included) to play. Print the PDF of the board. The pawns start from outside
the board and advance rolling the die. You control your character while the CPU
brings to life your opponent and the desolate land with all its strange creatures.
Experience the events on the board and discover new threats hidden within the
8-bit code!

When you are asked for an option, simply press the first letter (e.g. "p" for
Paladin or "y" for Yes); for the outcome of a die roll type the result (e.g. "5"
if you rolled five) and when the game stops, press any key to continue.

THE MUSIC

Otto Wlazlo, vaguely inspired by the eponymous tale by one of weird literature's
pioneer William Hope Hodgson, composed for Heimat der Katastrophe an exciting album
full of dark vibrations: chiptune dungeon-synth at the best!
The waves of dusty old synthesizers and the sounds of disused computer chips will
transport you to a world of magic and mystery, like a low-fidelity version of a
Hieronymus Bosch's painting.
