Hints From Elite
Nowadays, Elite Systems LTD sells for mobile phones the conversions of its most famous 8bit titles. Peeking at the "1942" page on their site, a C16 version is claimed again.

After some emails from several C16 fans, they admitted they don't know anything about a C16 version of the game, due to the lack of infos.
Here's the original answer:
"Don't have any further information for you on this at the moment, sorry.
Regards - Steve Wilcox - January, 2006
"

Author's Notes
Richard Ikin has confirmed he coded the game for Elite Systems, and at least 2 version existed:
"I started writing a version of this in 85/86 for Elite but this was canned. Not sure why. I wrote my version later which I did finish, I suspect I used code from version 1! That never went anywhere, unfortunately."

Evidence
Evidence of a C16/+4 version from a pre-selling list on H And D's C16 Plus/4 Handbook Volume 1 Issue 8, page 15.
