Subject: Help on X1541 cable

Hi plus4ers,
I spent last Sunday to made the X1541 cable, but grrrrrrrrr.... it still doesn't work: always I'm talked 'Device not present error' both with X1541.exe and STAR COMMANDER.
The 1541 diskdrive is OK, and when I turn on the PC, it performs the reset routine well.
I tried all the setting and controls but... nothing :-((. The connections and soldering are rightly done, and the PC port is set on SPP mode.
May be the problem is caused by the length of wire (4 meters)?
If yes, could be I have only the above error message and NOT other ones?
(i.e. missing data, etc.) but always 'Device not found error'.
Anybody can help me?
