Subject: VICE vs C16
Hi guys,

I am a bit confused on this interlace subject, but no problem, I don't really wanna learn the hardest coding tricks on TED, and I don't like interlace modes on my Junoszty TV (on C64!). :)

Hopefully you all know the C64/vic20/pet emulator, called VICE. This is available for Unix paltforms and for MS-DOS(!) as well. We are working on implementing the plus4/c16 emulation into it, Zsolt told me that he will port his C16 emu into the VICE project, this is very promising I think.
(this is one of the main reasons why I made this list) The person from the VICE project on this list is Ettore, the main author. I have one question to him here:

Screen (pixels) and keyboard handling is already implemented in VICE X,
probably Zsolt can/must use those routines, replacing his own DOS calls.
Can you please tell a few words, how these I/O-s are implemented, and what are the mayor differences from the simple DOS implementation? I think C16 also must keep the DOS routines, for the DOS port, or are there some libraries in VICE DOS? 1541 emulation is also done in VICE, so I don't see any need of recoding it again. I don't know what will happen to the CPU emulation, coz now there are 2 different codes for that.
Please note that Zsolt wants to finsih his c16 emulator up to version 1.0
before porting/inpelmenting it into VICE, so it's better to clear some statements now. Which ways should be followed to make the port work painless. :)

I hope the list users are interested in some techincal details about these emulators!

About sending files: I don't see any problem in sending executable or such files over this list, so go on Levente :) I receive files on the c64 list weekly, last time the 180 users of that list got the 300KBytes Scene+ magazine issue 2. that's normal!

Sincerely yours Ferenc Lion/Chromance
