Where is the point ? The simple version of Hannes expansion is the most supported 256kb extension. Its not more complex than your version.
(You are using a 6529, ls138 and two ls257 ?)

I'd say main problem for unexperienced users is to desolder the old ram chips.

Btw. Its probably possible to build the simple version of the 256kb extension with a single GAL16V8 and 8x 41256.
