One could change the keyboard, yes..... but the buttons would not match. The C64 has two cursor keys, the C16 has four..... C16 has ESCape where the C64 has <- (backarrow). The C64 has a RESTORE key that the C16 does not use.
Speaking of differences, the C16 and Plus/4 do not have NMIs. However, you cannot TRAP a LOAD ERROR from Datasette..... at least I never successfully have. The 7501/8501 support NMIs, it's the operating system that (supposedly) never issues one. Has anyone traced the tape load routines to verify the interrupts used?
