The colors ARE too dark. The game has a built in command (FARBE) to let the user adjust the colors, but it only seemed to use dark luminance. If you change F1=7 to F1=81 in line 60010, that should do the trick though 
About the walkthrough: it seems good, but there is a problem. After geh auf ungeheuer the game says Das geht nicht, and from then on all the commands you listed seem to have a problem... Could you check again?
