Alpharay is a great achievement on this platform.
I think it plays and looks better than the highly anticipated R-Type on ZX Spectrum (also have no HW sprites), though the hardware scrolling and the multicolor gfx mode were real an advantages on Plus/4 side.
R-Type could have a little more on weapon development and the huge and crazy looking bosses, but sometimes it was really hard to follow what happens on the screen. Not in the case of Alpharay.
