Re: Blob Fox I vote in comparison to the best product in the category, which in this case would be Mercenary, Doomdark’s Revenge, Elite, Twin Kingdom Valley, etc.., wait, did I just list converted games mostly? Well, this game was made for our platform by an enthusiast who does not even come from our golden era but from today’s terrabyte world. And this game is up to the challenge and is full of myseries to be uncovered! Let us discuss the hints here. First of all, you need to watch the intro till the text repeats. So much I already accomplished. :)
Re: Blob Fox Hope you don't mind me sharing this Verona, found your reply in Youtube comments as found it hard to figure out how to play. Nice game btw. Been playing it on my steam deck.
I'm Verona of System Syndrome, the creator of Blob Fox.
I see there are a few things that have come up as questions.
First thing: The dog doesn't have a level reset, he just tears you up a little bit, but then you get out and you can continue on the level.
Yes, you have to repaint the level 4 times.
It works with Joy1, but I prefer the arrow keys and SPACE.
But the trap kills you completely, so not only do you lose one attempt, but since you die from it, you unfortunately have to start all over again.
After picking up the eggs (counter at the bottom shows how many you have left) and repainting the level, the foxhole appears, where you have to go in and that completes the level.
You can also use the SPACE (or FIRE) button to activate the rabbit power. This will make the fox disguise itself as a rabbit and as the dog is trained to hunt foxes, it will not hurt you at this time.
On every level, if this bar is empty, a rabbit will appear sooner or later. If you manage to catch it, the bar will refill.
Every other level is a dark level with different music.
Traps are only on the light levels and not all of them.
The score is only shown when you have completed the game, then you can take a picture of it. What is the point of the score if you are dead?
The dog speeds up a bit on each new level, but slows down if you die, a kind of dynamic difficulty level.
When the game stops for a moment, it means you've reached another 100,000 points, so you've got a new life.
But if you were paying attention on the first level, when the trap appears, you saw something interesting at the bottom in the display bar.
Because the game is not what it seems. But you'll find out if you watch the scroll at the beginning of the game. If you collect and decipher all the codes, you'll find out what this thing that looks like a game really is.
Deciphering the first code can help you find the others. Miss one and you won't see the others.
Oh, and long press ESC key to exit the dance ending. (Of course, I think on the Plus/4 's ESC key.)
There is a Pause function. Enable/disable with P key.
That texts at the dance ending, or tango ending, have meaning, it's connected to the game's lore, that I mentioned.
And if the time's up, on light levels, the hunter's coming!
Re: Blob Fox @retroscener: No, I just wanted to share this too. @Csabo: Why, what is my real name? If you don't know the lore in Blob Fox, maybe you don't know that yet.
Re: Blob Fox Hello! Today, I updated the release, so there's a new downloadable zip file on the game's page, with some game code update, BitFire update and a new SD2IEC folder! If you have an SD2IEC drive, and want to help, please test the SD2IEC game version, to see if the intro can be reloaded without any problems after you have lost all your lives in the game.
And here's a playthrough played by me. @Csabo: if possible, this link has to be on the game's page. Thanks!
@Csabo and @Luca: Since you love Easter eggs and scores, even though that's not the point of the game, I'll tell you that there's a second crown. You can't get it with scores. However, at the end of the game, there are three bonus conditions and one hidden condition. If you complete three of these four (the first three are not to use rabbit power, to have at least three lives, and to have at least one minute left on each level), you will receive the second crown. If I remember correctly, that's how it works. I haven't even gotten it myself, only with a developer cheat.
There are still so many mysteries in this game... And then there's also the fact that you could ignore the conditions and to collect points, and decipher the hidden message(s). But that would require a different kind of playthrough. No, in my video, I followed the traditional method. :)
Re: Blob Fox I had an odd dream. I travelled to a distant military base, it said "65" on the outside, and I realized I travelled one too far, but no matter. I looked down at my hand and I realized I could read the hairs on my fingers, five of them, each one separately. But then I thought, I don't like these short hairs, so I ignored those, and paid attention to the long ones. So me and the fingers, we talked. The first thing it did was asked me a question, I was like, the answer is "me, Csabo"! When he revealed his true name, I wasn't surprised. Finally it pointed to an old an old painting, which was found in a ditch 6 years ago. And I thought... "Well, yeah... the name I heard in the darkness already reminded me of that painting!"
What an odd dream. I woke up wondering if I missed anything?
