@Murphy: Updating the firmware is simple (if the device was manufactured properly): just copy the new firmware to the root directory of an SD card, insert the card into the drive and press RESET. The drive will find the new firmware and perform the replacement.
No compatibility issues have been reported so far, but testing is always a good idea!
